Attention all international travelers
From 1 July 2026, all travellers entering or departing South Africa are required to complete an online Traveller Declaration before travelling.
Introduced by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), the declaration forms part of the Customs process and is designed to simplify border procedures while ensuring travellers meet their legal obligation to declare goods, currency and other regulated items.
Who needs to complete it?
The declaration is mandatory for all travellers entering or leaving South Africa by air, land or sea and must be completed before your journey.
Complete Your Declaration by visiting the SARS Traveller Declaration Portal to complete your declaration before you travel.
Travelling by Road?
If you are entering or departing South Africa in a foreign-registered vehicle, you must comply with the SARS vehicle declaration requirements introduced on 1 June 2026. Please refer to the SARS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for more information.
